This online tool has allowed many writers to share thoughts, humor, politics, and more with any and all who would visit. Since the Internet is a device of connectivity it also allows for immediate feedback in ways standard publishing cannot offer.

To many people, this sounds like some kind of dream job. Blogging (short for “web logging”), born from the Internet age, is one of the newer venues for freelance writing. The Internet has generated a lot of news about the financial possibilities open to bloggers: an audience of potentially millions — along with possible corporate sponsorship, a byline, and infinite creative control — captures the imagination of many prospective bloggers, and makes blogging seem like an infinitely desirable, lucrative field.

The truth is it is much more difficult to become a successful freelance blogger. A good knowledge of marketing, web design, and being consistent are skills you need to make a living (or a comfortable extra income) from this new form of media.

You’ve probably noticed that most articles claiming to be able to guide you in the best ways of getting your blog noticed don’t really offer very practical information. Most offer the same advice. They tell you to write about popular topics and to proofread your blog, and to write at a level that the average person can understand, just to name a few. But anybody can do this and still never gain a single reader.

In an effort to help new bloggers, and maybe even experienced bloggers, have a better chance of developing a strong readership, here are some helpful tips. It should be mentioned though, that the advice mentioned above that is found in most articles is still important to adhere to.

In the past few years, “Blogging” has exploded onto the national scene. In fact, it has gotten to be so pervasive that the next presidential election is said to be partially in the hands of the well-known political bloggers. A blog is a website which is usually constructed as a set of entries set up in chronological or reverse-chronological order. This means that the most recent post is at the top while the older posts are near the bottom. Older posts are usually archived by week, month, or year as the blog builds more and more content.

You can easily learn how to blog and you can set up your own free, personal blog within a few minutes. You can learn by seeing it for yourself if you want to know how to blog. All you have to do is go to one of the free blog hosting sites like blogger.com or livejournal.com to start your account. Of course, you need an email address in order to sign up.
